Café de las Madres

Where do Valduparenses go when the setting sun paints the sky? To Café de las Madres, tucked behind Parque de las Madres. The wrought-iron garden tables fill quickly with colleagues and couples meeting to have an Atardecer Vallenato (cappuccino and whiskey, $3.20) or one of the creative coffee shakes with or without a kick ($2.65-3.20). Other end-of-day relaxants include liquored cafés, cocktails, wine, beer and neat whiskey or vodka ($1.30-13). For lovebirds, there’s an extraordinary embrace: special cappuccino served in vertically nestling cups, with a lovely card and gift. Don’t wait until evening to come. Escape the day’s heat with an iced coffee or just a plain old tinto. Café de las Madres serves only organically grown Sierra Nevada coffee. Open Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.-11 p.m.
