Unemployment is rife in Buenaventura and upon arriving at the Muelle Turistico you will be befriended by various individuals claiming to be official tour guides. Head straight to the tourism office (the yellow building located off to the left) and make sure you get an accredited guide. The office officials can also provide you with maps and prices. Whale watching tours should cost in the region of $10 per person. A tour that takes in the whole of Cascajal Island will cost $42.
