The brightly-painted Iraka del Mar Eco Hotel is the best hotel that the town of Nuqui itself has to offer. The hotel welcomes guests with 12 inviting cabins, all equipped with private bathrooms and decks with hammocks. The staff can arrange tours and transport to other parts of the Choco, including trips to the thermal springs and Utria park, and whale watching tours. Since this hotel relies on package tours from Medellin the deals include two meals a day.

Head down the main road from the airport towards the beach and turn right at the last opportunity. Look for the brightly colored cabanas and you have arrived.

The balconies have hammocks and look out over the Pacific Ocean and you can see magnificient sunsets! We paid 30,000 pesos / person / night. Electricity in Nuqui only comes on between 6 PM to 11 PM so charge your camera batteries in the evening. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (as is everyone in Nuqui). They can help you set up boat rides to the termales (the hot spring is not that warm and local kiddies play around like it's a swimming pool). During the boat ride you might see whales, sea turtles or sharks - I did! Good plumbing and comfortable beds. Take a walk north on the beach for a day trip but brings lots of water to drink and wear sunscreen. Visit Nuqui for a peaceful, clean, naturalist vacation.
