Hotel

By Richard McColl

The Hotel Malecón - as the name suggests - is located right next to the port in Quibdo that straddles the Atrato River. Its drab stairwell is hard to miss. Don't let the facade put you off, the Hotel Malecon is safe, its 25 rooms are clean and Ramon the concierge is a great source of information on the area and city. Rooms are equipped with either a fan or air conditioning and come with a mini-bar and en suite bathroom. There is no hot water but this is hardly a necessity in Quibdo. Do not mistake the Hotel Malecon with the Hotel Central which is reached by the same flight of stairs and which rents its rooms by the hour.
