The biggest activity in Cabo de la Vela is getting relief from the sun, whether swinging in a hammock or swimming in the teal-blue sea. Walks to natural features along the coast are best done at dawn or late afternoon, to avoid the times of stinging sun. The main road follows the curve of the bay. At the point is the faro, or lighthouse. Along the way to the right horizon is El Pilón de Azúcar, Hoyos Sopladores (blow holes), Ojo de Agua (a natural pool) and caves to explore. Ask around for a guide to take you to the more hidden treasures. Between town and El Pilón de Azúcar is Laguna de Utta, a waterfowl refuge.
