In and near Manaure are a number of lagoons where you can observe flamingos and other waterfowl. Many also have beaches where you can cool down. In Manaure itself, the beach is a shadeless, pale-grey expanse and the sea a deep teal. Playas Pájaro and Mayapo have kiosks providing shade and food. Northeast of Manaure is Poportín with white sand beaches and shallow, clear waters. Here, as well as at Cordón and Carrizal further up the coast, bird watching is excellent.

Getting There
To get to these other beaches without your own transportation is a bit difficult. You can make arrangements with tour operators in Manaure and Uribia, or hire a taxi.
