Artesan workshop
The wall to one side of Artesanía Wayuu Mutsia’s front patio is like a picture dictionary, giving you an introduction to the Wayuu language. Inside typical items await you, from hand-painted, natural fiber wayuusheein (manta or robe) like the women wear. Also on display are wayuusupatsu, the sandals with pompoms, waireñas, regular cloth sandals, as well as other clothing items. Of course, there are susu (bags), süi (hammocks) and ceramics. All items are made by Wayuu. Original paintings by Chicho Ruiz Ortiz are available, too. During the high season, Artesanía Wayuu Mutsia is additionally open on Saturdays.
