Artesanías Wayuu Jalianaya - Shopping Manaure - Colombia

Jalianaya is an asociación de trabajo (labor association) comprised of Wayuu women. Walking into its shop, you’ll see them seated around the edge of the front showroom, crocheting, talking and buying bundles of yarn. An assortment of bags (beginning from $19) hang on the walls. Most of these, made of strong acrylic string, are of traditional design, though some are more modern. Hammocks, woven in synthetic or cotton fiber on an upright loom ($210 and up), hang in the back room.
