Things to Do in Manaure

+ Add a Photo

By Lorraine Caputo

Manaure has few offerings to the tourist, but the quality of them is great. Musichi, Carrizal, Poportín and other near-by coastal lagoons is fruitful grounds for birdwatchers, especially for flamingos and other migratory fowl. The saltworks are the largest of the country, permitting you to see the contrast between the age-old methods of the indigenous Wayuu and the modern-day massive extraction by industry. Several women’s coops sell everyday articles made by hand as well as invite you to know about the Wayuu way of life. The beaches are clean and the sea astounding deep colors, perfect for taking a break from the heat.
