Puerto Berrío is a relatively safe town. As long as you stay away from the port after dark, you should encounter little trouble. The most dangerous moments of any visitor’s trip is the time spent on public transportation. From time to time, the roads to and from Medellín and Barrancabermeja are closed due to military or guerrilla operations in the area.
