Depending on where you decide to visit, accommodation varies considerably in its quality. Small port towns such as Puerto Berrío and Puerto Boyaca offer decent and relatively inexpensive options that you are advised to choose over the cheaper brothel-like offerings. Mompos has a selection of, quite frankly, overpriced hotels but with the opening of La Casa Amarilla, travelers will have a reasonable place to stay at this hotel run by a Brit enamored with Colombia and a traveler himself.

Casa Hotel La Casona

As one of the leading Hotels in Mompos the expectation is that La Casona should be a paradise. It is not. The rooms are dark, the furniture could use some updating, and the communal areas need work. For too long it seems the establishment has been resting on its laurels knowing full well that a...

Hostal Dona Manuela

This 28-room behemoth of a colonial mansion sits proudly in the center of Mompos' main street, the Calle del Medio. Routinely used as a location for wealthy Momposinos to hold events such as weddings, it is quite simply the best and most elegant place to stay in town.Prices are not low, but you get...

If they are fortunate to stay at the Hotel Pipaton, it just may be worth it. This colonial-style building raises up with views over the Magdalena River,...
