Page Importance:
Most tourists come to Buenaventura as a launching pad for the nearby tourist areas and the whale-watching retreats of Juanchaco and Ladrilleros. Transportation and tours can be arranged at the offices located along the Muelle Turistico. Round-trip transportation to Juanchaco, Ladrilleros and La Barra should cost around $25. Water taxis run to the beaches of Pianguita and La Bocana for about $15. Beware of scam artists posing as tour operators who have taken brochures from reputable companies and pretend they are associated with those companies. The tourist office is located in the Muelle Turistico but it is rarely open. Transjuanchaco is a reputable company, also with an office in the Muelle Turistico.
