As one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems containing a cornucopia of species not found anywhere else on the planet, Chocó offers a wealth of natural pursuits. It is well worth the money to stay in one of the region’s excellent eco-lodges, from where you can spot the annual migration of humpback whales. If getting out to interact with the area is more your speed, you can kayak to and explore one of the many mangroves, visit Embera tribes and see their way of life, or dive to the wreck off BahÃa Solano. Other options include surfing at Cabo Corrientes, relaxing at Morromico, hiking through the UtrÃa National Park and sports fishing (best in June or July) off the coast.
