Visit the state in September for the month-long Fiestas of San Pacho, which celebrate Chocó’s patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi.

In June and July the annual sports fishing competitions are held. Fishermen from all over the world come out to try and snare marlin in catch and release tournaments.

From late July to the end of September marvel at the migrating humpback whales. Tours to see them up close can be arranged in Medellin.
