History
El Valle’s history is one that is defined by the river and its exit to The Pacific Ocean and the river are what define El Valle’s history. Like all settlements in the Chocó, El Valle is inhabited by Embera Indians, who survive on small-scale hunting and fishing and are descendants of African slaves brought during the Spanish reign.
