When to go

By Richard McColl

The humidity along the coast is nothing short of staggering. The official wet season runs from May through October and beyond, and is enough to soak you to the skin.

The climate in Cali is semi-tropical, while the interior of the region (particularly around Pasto) has more of an Andean climate.

Other times to go:

Semana Santa for the festival and celebrations in Popayán.

June and July for sports fishing opportunities in Bahia Solana and anywhere along the coast from late July to late September to see the humpback whales migrating.

December for the feria de Cali, rivaling only Barranquilla for its party.
