All classes of hostels exist on Isla Tumaco. At this time, many of the upper-end hotels are booked long-term by military personnel. If your inn is close to the seafront, you may be bothered by the stench of the water.
Playa El Morro has better options for couples looking for a romantic get-away or budget backpackers. If coming from or going to Ecuador by the weekly ship, it’s better to stay here; immigration (DAS) offices and port are nearby. Panorama Kioss provides shaded camp sites for $2.60-4.20 (back loop of beach road, up from Hotel El Morro, Tel (cel.): 311-766-2401). Beach camping is not recommended, because of tides and robberies.
