Now that Tumaco has been declared a Special Port, Ecotourism and Biodiversity District, SENA (Servicio Nacional de Apredizaje) is training economically disadvantaged person of the Tumaco region to be tour guides in the region. The students' travel agency, Guía T.P. Viajes y Turismo, can guide you to major attractions, like the city itself, Playa El Morro and Bocagrande, or to small indigenous and Afro-Colombian settlements deep within the mangroves. Some have private vehicles to chauffeur you to the sites. Negotiate the cost of your excursion with your individual student-guide.
