History of Honda

Founded in August 1539 by the Conquistador Francisco Nunez Pedroso, Honda grew well into its golden age in the latter half of the 19th Century thanks to steam boats traversing the Magdalena. The elegant and imposing structures that still exist from this era hark to a time of expansion and hope. Unfortunately for Honda – as with Mompós – the river changed its course and steam travel became a thing of the past, leaving Honda to flounder without purpose as a major transshipment route.
