Getting Around

+ Add a Photo

By Richard McColl

Cali is a confusing city as street numbers appear to have little rhyme nor rhythm. Take the river as a major landmark and the Intercontinental Hotel and look up at the hills to see the Christ the Redeemer statue and the Tres Cruces and this will go some way towards helping you get your bearings. Wherever you are going, be sure to have the address written correctly since Avenida 4 is going to be a far different alternative to Avenida 4 Norte! The best way of avoiding such problems is by finding out exactly which Barrio it is you need to get to. Buses are fairly straightforward and have their destinations plastered over the front window. For the most part they travel on the main roads and each journey costs $0.70. There is a new Transmilenio (called the Mio here) type creation being put together in Cali and once this is up and running then transport about town will become far clearer.
