Holidays and Festivals in Cali

+ Add a Photo

By Richard McColl

The most notorious and well known feria is the Feria de Cali which takes place in December and has been a yearly event since 1957. This event is the southwestern city's version of Carnaval, work ceases and partying in earnest starts. It runs from December 25-30. The nights are livened with salsa concerts, horse races, parades, concerts and exhibitions. Prices increase around and during Semana Santa - when all Colombians travel - and during the aforementioned Feria. While Cali is not recognized as being an incredible place to spend the Easter celebrations there are processions but you are better served heading a couple of hours away to Popayan.
