Parque de los Farallones - National Park Cali - Colombia

Only 20 minutes from Cali’s city limits and with borders that include the slopes to the Pacific coast, the Eastern cordillera of the Andes and the River Cauca, the Parque de los Farallones is a sight to behold. Created in 1968, its ecosystems include that of the Andes and the Choco and everything in between, ranging from 1,600 meters (5,249 ft) above sea level to over 4,000 meters (13,123 ft).

Spanning 150,000 hectares (370,658 ac), the park takes in steep mountain ranges, cloud forest, numerous water sources and rainforest, as well as lowland jungle. Due to the variety of altitudes, precipitation and temperatures found within the park, the environment plays host to around 700 species of birds, 200 species of snakes, peccary, deer, pumas and monkeys.

There are visitor centers and campsites, but permission to enter the park must be sought prior to arrival. Topacio Visitors Center is found near to the River Pance, where there are two campsites and bathrooms. Quebrada Honda Visitors Center is at Kilometer 28 on the route to Peñas Blancas and Pichinde and has one campsite. The Park Authorities are located in Cali (Av 4, 37AN-37. Tel: 664-9334).
