Monumento de las Tres Cruces

Location:
Normandia, Cali, Colombia

Monument

By Brenda Yun

Standing at 1500 meters above sea level, the three crosses that comprise this monument were constructed in 1837. Every 3rd of May (Colombia’s Labor Day), caleños climb to the top of this hill to pay homage to Santa Cruz and celebrate their city’s independence from Spain. There’s a good view of the city from the top of this hill. The center cross is 26 meters tall and 22 meters wide.

You can safely walk to the monument on a path from Barrio Normandia or simply flag one of the taxi jeeps that bus sightseers to and from Normandia Plaza and “Las Cruces” (which signs in the windshield should read).
