The three barrios of San Fernando, El Penon and La Granada are similar in that they were originally residential areas that have slowly morphed into high-rent zones with chic boutiques taking their place alongside trendy bars and restaurants.

In San Fernando, you will find the Parque del Perro - complete with a statue of a dog in the middle - that is lined with small bars and over a dozen good restaurants. This park appeals to a young crowd and on weekends is bursting to capacity.

El Penon on the the other hand is located behind the Intercontinental Hotel and close to the Tertulia Museum of Modern Art. Its bars, boutiques and restaurants appeal to a more mature clientele intent on eating well and being seen in the right place.

La Granada is the largest of the three areas and may stretch for 10 city blocks. Dining here is expensive and exclusive but places for those on a budget can be found. The beautiful people frequent the bars here prior to heading on for a night out.

Getting There
For all three depending on where you are staying a taxi is your best bet.
