By Brenda Yun

There is plenty of shopping to be had along Avenida Bolívar (or Carrera 14), where you can walk a dozen blocks down a new pedestrian walkway that extends from Plaza Bolívar (cross street: Calle 21) to the hospital (on Calle 9). On weekends, this street is packed with people in need of some retail therapy. Artisan shops, drugstores, clothing boutiques, and bigger malls line both sides of the street, so you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for. Pedestrians are the privileged ones here, as cars cross the road slowly, giving shoppers the right of way.
