Armenia Overview

WHEN TO GO:

The nice, temperate climate in Armenia often allows for pleasant days and cool evenings. Just as in other areas of the Quindío, it can be more wet in April and October. A really neat festival worth catching if you are in the region around February is Armenia’s unique Yipao or Jeep Parade. Jeeps, which have become the beloved symbol of the coffee culture in this part of Colombia, gather together and parade around the city carrying heaps of produce like plantains and fruits. The cars carrying the harmonious arrangements of produce win prizes. In 2006, Armenia and nearby Calarcá were inaugurated into the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest caravan of nearly 400 jeeps.
