Traveler Reviews of

Plantation House

Rating: 25%

Good place for budget travelers, but if you can spend a little more there are better options. Located in a nice setting with good views on the countryside, though pretty far from the town center. Rooms are not very clean with the worst bed I have ever slept in. Cats walk around in the kitchen, not very hygienic in my opinion. Very friendly owners, english guy that can provide you with information about the region.

Another View of the Plantation House

Rating: 25%

Plantation House is a run-down backpacking hostel that continues to attract foreigners because it is on a highly publicized hostel route. The house itself is outside town on a dirt road, several blocks from the main plaza. Somehow this place is continually packed with people. Two dorm rooms — one in the main house that sleeps four, and the other set back in another house across the street sleeping six — cost a reasonable $8 per bed, but their private rooms are expensive ($18-24). Travelers to Salento are much better off staying in town, closer to the action. There are plenty of better options along Calle 6 and Carrera 6.
