Huasquila Amazon Lodge

With improved roads from Quito to Cotundo, it now only takes three hours by car or four by bus to arrive at Huasquila Amazon Lodge. This family-run eco-resort offers nine luxury cabins, built with local materials in Kichwa Style, within the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve. Each cabin has a private bathroom, hot water, amazingly comfortable beds, and wide interior spaces and porches from where you can enjoy the fascinating views of the Amazon. Huasquila is in the process of creating ramps to their three newest cabins to make them wheel-chair accessible. They are perhaps the only Amazon ecolodge in Ecuador to cater to visitors with disabilities, and can accommodate groups of up to 30.

Huasquila offers personalized tours and activities including caving, jungle walks to identify medicinal plants, and visits to petroglyphs, an animal rescue center, Kichwa communities, and much more. This lodge offers first class attention in a family atmosphere, including bar service with exotic cocktails, and a show featuring traditional dances and a demonstration of a shaman ceremony. You will be served three- and four-course meals everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with delicious national and international dishes.

Come and enjoy a few days full of adventure and peace in the sacred valley of Cotundo, home of shamans from the Amazon. Ideal for small groups with individual interests looking for a relaxing way to experience the beauty of the jungle.

Traveler Reviews of Huasquila Amazon Lodge

Jungle Luxury

This eco-lodge exceeded our expectations beginning from the moment we stepped out of the car and were handed a welcome drink to when the owner's daughter personally gave us a ride back to Quito. Lovely family, amazing food and breath-taking views will keep us coming back for sure!

Remote and relaxing.

Huasquila is definately off the beaten path and well worth the visit. Sweeping vistas, fantastic food, and top-notch staff make this place an experience to remember. The cabins are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Totally private. Many tours were included in the package. Totally relaxing and peaceful. If you can find a friendlier staff and better food anywhere else, please let me know. Home style regional dishes prepared to fit your personal dietary requirements. A totally outstanding experience!

A great place

We had a great time at Huasquila. The facilities were much, much nicer than we expected for the Jungle. The food was really good, but expect local fair. The activies are excelllent and I highly recomend the rafting. It is well worth the additional charge. The best part is the family who runs Huasquila, who are incredibly accomodating and very friendly. While it took us a little over 5 hours by van to get to Huasquila from Quito, 2 hours over dirt roads, the view is beautiful and Huasquila is much easier to get to than the alternatives.
