The quickest and most convenient way to get to Lago Agrio is to fly, which only takes around 30 minutes. The airport is a little way out of town, so you’ll need to take a taxi to the center. TAME offer flights every day except Sunday. On Monday through Saturday they have flights at 10:00 that arrive at 10:30. On Mondays and Fridays, they also have flights leaving at 16:00, arriving at 17:00. Flights returning from Lago Agrio to Quito operate Monday through Saturday at 11:00, and Monday and Friday at 17:30. Because of the town’s importance in the oil industry, flights can get pretty booked up, so reserve early to be sure of flying. If you prefer to take the bus to Quito, the route is very scenic, but expect to be on the bus for about eight hours. Buses also go to Riobamba, Cuenca, Guayaquil, Tena and Puyo. Be aware that there have been increased reports of robberies on buses to and from the jungle in recent months.
