Lago Agrio, like any jungle town, has a hot, humid climate. During the day, temperatures reach 28-30ºC (82-86ºF). Nights are a tad brisk: 19ºC (66ºF). Annual precipitation measures 4,014 millimeters (159 in), with considerable rains every month. March-July are the wettest months, and December-February are the dryer ones.

Lago Agrio has three principle festivals:

February 12 -- Día del Oriente Ecuatoriano

June 20 -- Cantonización de Lago Agrio
