Getting to and away from Macas

It is possible to fly to Macas, a trip that takes 45 minutes. Tame offer flights every day except Saturday at 09:30 in the morning, arriving at 10:15. The return journey leaves on the same days at 17:00 and is the same duration. Buses run to Quito a couple of times per day and the journey takes around ten hours. Buses also run to nearby towns such as Sucua, and some buses head to other parts of the Oriente such as Puyo and Tena.

The Terminal Terrestre is situated on Amazonas and 10 de Agosto.

Macas Limitada (tel. 270-0869) goes to Cuenca (7 hours, $8.50) at 11:15 p.m., 11:45 p.m., 12:20 a.m., to Guayaquil (10 hours, $10) at 8:40 p.m. and 11 p.m., to Quito at midnight, to San Luis (1 hour, $0.50) at 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., to San Isidro (30 minutes, $0.25), at 5.30 a.m., 7 a.m., 9 a.m., noon, 1:45 p.m., 4 p.m.

Turismo Oriental (tel. 270-0159) goes to Cuenca via Guarumales at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:40 p.m., 4 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m., to Cuenca via Limon at 5 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Transportes Baños (tel. 270-3111) go to Quito (7 hours, $8) at 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Cooperativa Sucua (tel. 270-0396) goes to Guaraquiza (8 hours, $8), at 12:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m., to Morona ($8) at 9:45 a.m., 5:45 p.m., to Cuenca ($8) at 3:30 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Compañia Riobamba (tel. 270-1381) goes to Riobamba (5 hours, $5) at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., and to Guayaquil (9 to 10 hours, $10) via Riobamba at 3 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Centinale del Oriente (tel. 270-2490) goes to Puyo ($5) at 6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and to Quito ($8) via Puyo in coche cama (reclining seats) at 11 p.m., to Tena ($7.50) at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Cooperativa San Francisco (tel. 270-0995) goes to Puyo ($5) at 7 a.m., 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., to Guayaquil ($12) via Puyo at 6 p.m., to Quito ($8) via Puyo at 3 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., to Riobamba at 5 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Orientur goes to Yaupi ($6.50) at noon, to Limon ($3.75) at 4.40 p.m., to Mendez ($2.50) at 1:45 p.m., to Gualaquiza ($8) at 6:40 p.m.
