France-Amazonia is a small, peaceful jungle lodge run by a lovely couple who will make you feel right at home. The hotel can host up to 36 people in 16 bedrooms (1 single, 11 double, 3 triple and 1 quadruple), all with private bathrooms and hot water. There is also a swimming pool, bar, private parking and private access to the Napo river.

Tour packages are arranged with a native-certified, English-speaking guide and include kayaking, rafting, hiking, and visiting the local jungle and indigenous villages. The prices are very competitive and equipment, such as rubber boots and rain ponchos, is included.

The hotel's website has a comprehensive and very helpful section on what to expect and what to bring to the jungle, as well as detailed information on what the tours include. The owners will really do all they can to make sure you have a pleasant stay.

Getting There:
The bus network in Ecuador is good, and the fares are reasonably low.

• Coming from Tena, there is a bus to Misahualli every hour, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Coming from Quito, there is a bus to Tena every hour.
