Though a little pricier at $8 per person, Hostal el Paisano could almost be deemed luxurious (ungle standards). It is located just a block off the Parque Central and is clean and fresh. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hostal has a very open-air feel about it with rooms opening onto an outdoor patio. Generally quiet, the hostal gets noisy when the community's herd of playful monkeys scampers across the tin roof and takes turns pushing each other down the roof. The hostal can accommodate 37 people in double and triple rooms. Each room has a sparkling private bathroom and hot water. Mosquito nets are provided. There is a restaurant on-site serving all meals for cheap prices.

I recently stayed at Hostal el Paisano, and it was amazing. I went with my church on a missions trip and even though our group was a rowdy bunch of teens, the staff was incredibly nice. The food exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Hostal el Paisano to any church looking to go on a missions trip in the jungle of Ecuador.
