Tena does a booming business in tourism and there are some jungle lodges in the rainforest nearby. The lodges near Tena have pros and cons: on the plus side, they're easiest to reach by bus from Quito: they're not very remote and visiting one can save you time, money and hours on a bus. On the negative side, most of the cool wildlife like monkeys, great cats and birds have all been hunted out of the Tena area long ago and your chances of seeing anything really memorable are slim.
