Napo Runa volunteer is an independent, community-based, Quechua-run volunteer program located 45 minutes from Tena in a small community called Uchuculin. We offer the unique opportunity to live directly in the community and to work on a variety of volunteer work projects, such as education, construction, and agriculture.

Getting There
Tena is the nearest city, and buses go there regularly from
quito. From Tena to Uchuculin, Centinela buses leave every 45minutes to an hour for Talag and Serena. Travelers must get off at the community of Uchuculin halfway between Pano and Talag —</sp</p>
Travel Tips: It is best to arrange a visit through email or cell phone contact before arriving in the community, but if you do arrive without arrangement, just ask for Napo Runa Volunteer and a community member will assist you.
Price Description: Volunteers pay $8-10 a day depending on the length of the stay.

You Need to Bring: • binoculars • flashlight, candles, and matches • sun block, a cap, or a hat • bug repellent • medicine kit and personal prescriptions • raincoat or poncho (preferably rubber) • camera, film, and batteries • long and short sleeved shirts • long pants • sneakers, hiking shoes, and rubber boots • bathing suit and sandals • small backpack for excursions • coins for tips, etc.
Tena is considered to be the capital of cinnamon and the magic door towards “el dorado”, the golden one. it is visited by tourists from all over world, for its beautiful abundant natural wealth, its fragile ecosystems, and extraordinary biodiversity. In addition to housing a bustling city, this region is in its greater part covered with forest plains, surrounded by exuberant vegetation, thousands of waterfalls, caves, rivers, lagoons, ancient petroglyphs, and also a great variety of wild animals. All of this testifies to a rich history and a strong cultural wealth.
