A Welcome Break has a great location just off Tena'smainstreet. Theblock is quiet andpleasantly mixed into a Quechua area. Thehostelis cozy and simple with all the basic amenities. Theshared kitchenlooks a little run down, but is clean. There is an outdoor patio with hammocks to relax on as well. The rooms are also clean, withprivate andshared bathrooms and hot water.
There is a restaurant on-site called Veronica's Place that serves breakfast only. For $2.00you can choose from a menu of fruit, pancakes, eggs etc. (Open 7:30 - 10:30 a.m.).
If you are interested in organizing a tour, Lefer Turismo is the on-site travel agency that is certified by the Municipal Gobierno de Tena and the Dirreccion de Turismo y Ambiente. Tours costbetween $35 and $45 per person per day and include rafting, motor canoeing and much more. Equipment is included.

A Welcome Break is just that
Juan Carlos is a helpful, caring person who will put something on your bug bites so that they don't itch and will stay up until all hours for you to arrive from Quito by bus. They have a computer with Internet access for the asking. The outdoor sitting area in between the rooms and restaurant is very relaxing and lovely with the flowers, fish and birds. You could spend days relaxing in the hammocks reading and listening to the songs of the birds and no other noise. You will not hear any traffic or people. It is wonderful! It really is that nice and you can't beat the price. They have tall oscillating floor fans for the asking.
