El Establo De Tomas - Hotel Tena - Ecuador

If you want the experience of staying in the jungle outside of Tena but can't afford the higher prices of the all-inclusive lodges, El Establo de Tomas is an excellent alternative. Set in extensive grounds a 15 minute drive from the center of Tena, the hotel consists of several individual wooden cabins, pretty gardens frequented by toucans and talkative parrots, river access, a volleyball court, a small lagoon, and communal areas with a dining area, bar, pool table, cable TV and free WiFi. The cabins are simple but well-kept with mosquito nets, and each has a private bathroom with a shower heated by solar-power. A hearty breakfast (bread rolls, eggs, ham or cheese, yuca, fruit, juice, tea and coffee) is offered for an extra $4, and dinner can be arranged for $6-8. Unfortunately however, there have been reports of animal trafficking at the hotel.
