BY BUS
Tena's bus terminal is located on Avenida 15 de Noviembre between Calle Montero and Avenida del Chofer. The terminal is unattractive but don't be too quick to judge the rest of the city based on its appearance, the northern part of town is much nicer and boasts and increasing number of interesting shops and decent restaurants.
Over the past several years, roads that lead to the Amazon have been greatly improved and travel times between destinations have been significantly cut. From Tena, you can catch buses to MisahuallÃ, Baeza, Quito (via Baeza), Baños, Puyo, Riobamba, Ambato and Guayaquil, as well as several smaller nearby jungle towns.
Cooperativa Transporte y Turismo Baños has buses to Quito daily at 2:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 1 p.m., 1:50 p.m. and midnight.
Cooperativa de Transportes Amazonas has six buses to Quito each day in the mornings only, leaving at 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
Cooperativa de Transportes Riobamba has six buses per day that stop in Puyo, Baños and Riobamba: 2 a.m., 3 a.m., 4 a.m., 9 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Flota Pelileo goes to Ambato daily at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., and to Guayaquil each night at 7:30 p.m.
Expreso Baños has seven buses per day to Ambato, with the first one leaving at 1 a.m. and the last at 7 p.m.; it also has five daily buses to Quito between 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
BY PLANE
There is a small airport outside of Tena but there are no commercial flights, only short flights over the jungle.
