The easiest way to start researching Andes hotels is to find which area you'd like to stay in. In the Northern Andes, you'll find budget hostels and international chains in Quito, and then hospedejas and mid-range hotels in places like Otavalo, Cotacachi, and Cayambe. In the Central Andes, expect more low-end accommodations in small towns along the Quilotoa Loop, or in places like Baños and Riobamba. In the Southern Andes, Cuenca lacks international chains but has any type of accommodation you are looking for, from budget to luxury. In other places around Cuenca you might not be so lucky.
