Getting to and Away from Ambato

By Erin Helland

The Bus Station in Ambato is located about 2 km north of the Centro on Ave. Columbia and Paraguay. Their phone number is 032821841. It is one of the more major bus hubs in Ecuador, and there are daily buses to Guayaquil, Quito, Baños, Cuenca, Latacunga, Santo Domingo, Riobamba, Guaranda, Tena, Macas, Puyo, Loja, Machala and Esmeraldas.

To get to the Centro from the bus station, walk up the hill from the bus stop and take a right at the first major road. Cross the railroad track, and follow the signs to the Centro. The Centro is where the highest concentration of pharmacies, stores, places to stay and restaurants are in the town of Ambato.
