The owners of this small restaurant have taken the initiative to carve out paths through the cloud forest leading to the waterfall Pailón del Diablo. For 50 cents, you can take a walk through the forest lined with orchids until you are almost close enough to reach out your hand and touch the waterfall. The restaurant itself doesn't have a view of the waterfall, but has open-air seating looking out at the lush forest hills.
They plan to open up cabañas in December 2005 for $15 per person. Call ahead, though -- it's a long way to carry your bags if you aren't sure there are rooms.
