Set back a bit from the busier streets of Baños, the friendly, family-run hostel La Chimenea is conveniently located close to the hot springs. The rooms are basic, but very good value, since they are all clean and functional, with comfy beds and private bathrooms. Breakfast is served in a bright, airy room on the roof terrace and you can chose from an extensive menu of pancakes, giant fruit salads and omelets. There are three computers with free internet access for guests' use, as well as a steambath (baño de cajon) which costs $3.50.

Hostal Chimenea

I love this hostal!  The staff here is very friendly, the rooms are clean and the showers are hot.  Most rooms feature a balcony with a beautiful view.  The terrace cafe is a bit pricy, but the view is amazing and the food is great.
