La Petite Auberge is a pleasant, peaceful hotel tucked in a garden with views of the mountains. You can relax in the garden, chat with other travelers by the fireplace or exchange books in English, French, Dutch, German and Hebrew (the deal is give two books, get one). The per person price includes a continental breakfast in Le Petit Restaurant with french bread, homemade marmalade, juice and coffee. All credit cards are accepted, although there is a $20 minimum and a 10% surcharge. The price of the room depends on one of three different categories: without fireplace, with fireplace and with fireplace with a view. Prices increase by about $3 if you are traveling alone.

Oasis of Tranquility

Set in its own well tended garden, with bedrooms around an inner courtyard, the Petit Auberge is an oasis of tranquility. Rooms are basic but clean with ensuite facilities and comfortable beds. Breakfast is simple, French style, served in the Petit Restaurant, which is also open for dinner.All in all a delightful stay.

I was pretty disappointed by this hotel when ...

I was pretty disappointed by this hotel when I stayed here in Dec. 2004. The service was unremarkable, the bed was awful and the room was dark and dreary. The French food in the restaurant didn't impress me either. The $5 rooms at other hotels in the area give you the same type of room - and probably friendlier service.

This is a really nice affordable little auberge with cozy rooms, friendly atmosphere, and an absolutely amazing French restaurant. I really like staying here when I'm in Baños on a budget.
