La Posada del Arte

For art aficionados and discriminating travelers, La Posada del Arte is certainly a Baños gem. In addition to big, comfy beds, and plenty of hot water, the hostel has a cozy sala where you can relax, listen to music or read in front of an inviting fireplace. The hostel is also a showcase for Ecuadorian paintings, including work by artists like Whitman, Soriano, Rueda, Endara and Sanchez. Art lovers will be happy to hear that all of the artwork is for sale. The rooftop terrace boasts stunning views of the surrounding scenery, including a spectacular view of the nearby waterfalls. When your tummy starts to rumble, head to the hostel’s restaurant, which features traditional Ecuadorian dishes, and international plates like curries and pasta. Vegetarian options are also available. The American-style breakfast, fresh fruit juices and fruit salads are also highly recommended -- some of the best breakfast in town. The restaurant is open from 7:15 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. If you’re in the mood to learn more about the city, the friendly staff can arrange a tour. The owner is particularly knowledgeable about treks and trails through the area, and even has a notebook full of helpful maps he's made himself. So whether you're keen for a leisurely walk, mountain run, or rugged bike trek, seek him out and have a chat. As if the beds, water pressure, food, and spectacular views weren’t enough, this place also has wireless internet.

Traveler Reviews of La Posada del Arte

Very nice !!

The beds were great-The free breakfast was all you would want.A quiet end of town but close enough to walk everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights there.

Back from Banos

Just returned from Banos, and a lovely stay at the Posada del Arte. The owners Jim and Marshia took a genuine interest in our family (probably can speak for the other guests as well), provided us with connections for biking and rafting, as well as detailed (accurate) hiking information. Just prior to visiting Banos, our Galapagos tour guide confirmed we would be pleased with "Posada del Arte" and described the breakfast as the best in Ecuador. I'd agree 100%, and try the suppers too!!!

Best Hotel I've Ever Experienced.

This is a glorious hotel, full of character and beautiful Ecuadorian artwork. The beds are very comfortable, and there's an inviting reception area, playing very enjoyable music. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and didn't hesitate to help me when I was poorly. The breakfasts were hearty and tasty, as were the other meals that I tasted. Although it's not the cheapest place in town, it certainly is value for money-the views of the waterfall, fireplaces in the rooms, superb decor and breakfast. My friend and I agreed this was the best hotel we've ever experienced. You'd be silly not to give it a go...

Beautiful, relaxing, wonderful staff and hosts

This place is amazing!! We had a fabulous room with a fireplace. In addition we enjoyed a delicious, huge breakfast each morning. The staff and hosts are warm, friendly, and helpful. It felt better than home away from home. I highly recommend Posada del Arte for its charm, warmth, accommodations, and value.

Informative Owners, Beautiful Hostel

The helpful owners and beautiful artwork are our two favorite things about this hostel. It is cute, cozy and creatively decorated. The owners will help you with whatever you need. The comfotable sitting room is a great place to relax in the evening. Our only complaint was that our room was a bit stinky and the bathroom was not cleaned daily.

LOVED IT

This place is easily the best place to stay in Banos. Although from Chicago, your hosts have adopted an Ecuadorian lifestyle and attitude. Laid back, friendly, and wonderful food are the descriptive words here. Huge, wall sized murals decorate all four floors. Modern conveniences with authentic open-air feel make this the perfect combination of hammock relaxing and fine dining. Perfect for the most upscale tourist or the budget backpacker.

Stay here without thinking twice.

My travel companion and I were on the Ecuador coast planning ahead during a busy time (Holy Week). We stumbled on Posada del Arte on the internet and booked because the picture looked cute. The location is not in the "heart" of the action in Baños, which is a good thing since it can be loud and crowded. Its a small town, the walk is hardly an effort. Appearance-wise, it´s adorable, lots of nice touches. The owners are from the States, so their attention to customer-service detail is up-to-date. Not perfect - just little things: the cold water in the room was turned off because of a leaky faucet, but the staff turned it on for me no problem and the door didn't open all the way becuase of an apparent floor repair. The positives far outweigh any minor negatives. The decor and atmosphere are great, the food is very good, the place is attractive and comfortable, the staff knowledgable, attentive, and friendly, the rooftop patio is awesome, the artwork is easy on the eyes. Don't think twice about booking to stay here if you'll be in Baños. -Jon Epstein

Comfy, beautiful and a great value!

If you're a very demanding traveler and a stickler for safety details, you may be worried about the loose doorknob on your room or the unevenly spaced stair steps. The benefits of the place far outweigh these minor details though. The hostal is beautifully painted and decorated, the staff is outstandingly helpful and friendly, oh and those free breakfasts...! Very tasty, tasteful and healthy meals that are large enough to fill even the belly of an American! ;)

Laa Posada del Arte

The best! This charming little jewel was one of the highlights of our trip. We traveled from Quito all the way down to Vilcabamba and there was only one other place that matched it's charm. The owners were engaging and interesting. They had their full attention on our every need. The ambiance was perfect, with it's colorful rooms and lobby. I felt like I was in someones cozy living room when I relaxed in the lobby around the fireplace. It is just enough off the main streets to feel remote but only walking distance to town and to the mineral baths. This is a must visit if you are in Banos! Thanks for a memorable stay!

One of Ecuadors BEST!

La Posada del Arte is a little "GEM". If like a place thats out of the ordinary then this is it. Every room has an individual, homely feel. The common areas are colourfully decorated with local arts and crafts. The food, breakfast especially was outstanding.......thanks Jim,Marshia and Staff...hope to see you soon. Shiraz
