Traveler Reviews of Mayra Spanish School

Waste of time and money

Rating: -10%

Poor instructors, if they even show up. Method of teaching at a basic level is horrible.

I speak Spanish

Rating: 100%

I spent 4 weeks in Mayra's School and now I speak español :-) The place is very nice, the teachers are serious and capable and most of them speak English, which is very helpfull at the beginning. Moreover, Baños is a very good place to study a language in a peacefull ambiance.

Excellent Spanish School with very knowledgable teachers

Rating: 100%

I was blown away by the original review of Mayra's school on this site. I have had the exact opposite experience. Mayra's school is excellent. I can't say enough good things about the professionalism, level of knowledge, patience, and work ethic of the teachers here. I've worked with two profesors here (Mayra and Marco). They both have an excellent knowledge of the language and they also are tuned into all of the errors that I will make as a foreigner. I've spent 3 weeks here now, and I have another week to go. I have been studying grammar, attempting to improve my listening comprehension, and reading skills. But I don't get much time in conversations normally. Here, I have focused on conversation (4 hours a day), and have about 2-3 hours of homework per night. I am studying here pretty hard, but I feel like I am getting a great payback on my time and money here. Classes are one on one, and there is no place to hide. I think learning a language is really hard work, but you will get out what you put into it. If you are willing to put effort into your learning here, you will learn Spanish at this school. They also make it a lot of fun. I have also learned a tremendous amount about the culture and the people here, and I think that is a big driver for me in learning the language.
