Hostería Papagayo

Papagayo is a beautiful hosteria, one hour's bus ride south of Quito, close to the town of Machachi. It offers superb views, access to eight different volcanoes, daily farm activities, farm animals, nearby hikes, fiestas, free internet, a jacuzzi, BBQs and an international chef. Mountain tours are operated from this base, as it provides not only the perfect atmosphere in which to relax but also, at 3,200 metres, is an ideal place to acclimatize. For those interested in volunteer work, Papagayo sometimes accepts people to work at the hostel in exchange for free room and board.

From Quito: Take a bus from the bus Terminal Terrestre Bus Station to Machachi. From Machachi take a bus to El Chaupi and get off it when it arrives to Agriconsultores. You can also call Eran from Machachi and he will pick you up.

Phenomenal and Stress free

The farm house is beautiful, I used it as my rest base for my climbs. I I would have loved to spend several days there just relaxing, hiking and horseback riding.
