Tambopaxi

Set just inside the bleak, beautiful wilderness that is the Cotopaxi National Park, Tambopaxi is an acclimatization center that advertises itself as "the best place to stay and climb Cotopaxi." At an 3,750 m elevation, this is probably a resonable claim. Tambopaxi offers two dormitory huts, one with 27 beds spread across four rooms, and the other with eight beds spread across three rooms. Whilst the buildings are the only ones visible for miles within the national park, the careful use of construction materials and close attention to aesthetic detail mean that the environment has not detrimentally impacted by the presence of the buildings. If you prefer, there is an option to camp at Tambopaxi. Campers enjoy the same facilities as those staying in the huts. For those who do not wish to spend an overnight in the national park but still want to visit, Tambopaxi also has a restaurant which offers delicious, hearty set meals with a stunning view of Cotopaxi on clear days.
