Hostal Mama Hilda

A lovely complex of clean and cozy rooms with spectacular views and the warmest of hosts, you’re sure to be taken care of and then some at Mama Hilda’s. Running the place is a full-out family affair with hearty group meals in a homey dining room (veggie friendly too!), and Mama herself seemingly everywhere at once, insuring that everything is up to par. Comfy brick-walled rooms, some with woodstoves and private bath, all share decks with colorful hammocks that look out over Mama’s flower garden and green patchwork hills beyond. Lounge on the balcony during the magical dusk hour when a mist drapes over the mountains and you can hear the distant hum of kids playing futból in the town center. Families and larger groups can stay in “El Refuge”- the newest of buildings- which houses spacious rooms with lofts that sleep up to 6. Other rooms share bathrooms that are spotless and plentiful. The owners will happily arrange horseback tours, hikes and private transport.

Traveler Reviews of Hostal Mama Hilda

Great place to stay

From the gates you get a modest peak into Mama Hilda's abode. Go inside and you'll find a pruned lawn, polished rooms, comfortable hammocks, and an extremely friendly staff. Lola cooked up an incredible meal and played a bit of reggaton music at the end, encouraging us all to dance. This is a good place to relax, eat tasty food and meet other travelers. Cheers

Wonderful hostal

Wonderful, friendly and welcoming hostal with fantastic food and owners who go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. Couldn't wish for a better hostal in Ecuador and would recommend booking during the summer months.

Mama Hilda

Loved the hammocks with the view over the Andes. The food was great. Excellent place to relax. Only disadvantage to visiting Chuchiglan is that buses heading out of town only leave in the middle of the night.

Home from home

Hostal Mama Hilda is a wonderful place to stay on the Quilotoa loop. My wife and I were originally only going to stay for 1 night, but ended up staying for 3. The family that run the hostal are so welcoming and friendly and the standard of accomodation and food is excellent.

Mama's place is the best

Mama really knows how to cook, which is good because there aren't really any restaurants around here! We had a great stay with Mama.
