Getting To And Away From The Quilotoa Loop

Public transport to the Quilotoa Loop originates in Latacunga. You can choose to either travel around the loop clockwise (covering first Zumbahua, then Quilotoa, Chugchilán, Sigchos and Saquisilí), or anti-clockwise, covering the towns in the reseverse order. Note that for many destinations, there is only one bus a day, often leaving at an alarmingly early hour (in order to allow local people to get to the morning markets). If you can't drag yourself out of bed at 3 a.m., you can always hire a private car or, in some cases, hop on the daily milk truck. See each separate town in the Quilotoa Loop for more detailed transport information (e.g. place of departure, private car hire).

Several of the Quilotoa Loop buses, including those going to Chucghil√°n, are operated by Transporte Illiniza, who have a stand in the Latacunga bus terminal.

Depending on road and weather conditions, journey time can be significantly extended, and bus times may change frequently.
