Pacha Mama - Hotel Quilotoa - Ecuador

A basic but decent option run by an amicable local family, Pacha Mama is the second to last stop on the left as you approach the crater. Four upstairs rooms are surprisingly warm for the area as heat is carried up and radiated through a large metal pipe. That said, it's still downright chilly at night, so bring plenty of warm clothes. The rooms come with hot water, but they often keep water shut off until a guest requests it be turned on (check before undressing for the shower!). Rates include breakfast and dinner, which are served on the first floor next to a warm furnace. Non-guests can also eat here for $3 a meal.
